It’s rare to find a champagne, or indeed, a wine of any kind, as profound - Selosse Cuvee Initial NV

Selosse Cuvée Initial NV

Selosse's are Champagnes of seemingly implausible harmony.

They are rich and gregarious, but still magically elegant and finessed. That begins to hint at the greatness of Selosse.

For me, Selosse offers endless fascination. Peter Liem really nails it when he writes, "It’s rare to find a champagne, or indeed, a wine of any kind, as profound in its expression and as multi-voiced in its complexity as Selosse’s are."

These wines are also some of the most sought after wines of Champagne - a truth that becomes painfully apparent when you realize these allocations must be talked about in terms of single bottles, not cases. I can't tell you how much time I devote to securing parcels of Selosse. To do otherwise would be unthinkable, though; the wines are just too great not to make the effort.

The Initial is a gorgeous expression of the Selosse style: textured, exuberant, endlessly complex. It is sourced from the Grand Cru vineyards of Cramant, Oger and Avize. The resulting wine is brimming with layers of toasted almonds, honey, and smoky, saline minerality; it is resoundingly unapologetic in its richness and depth.

I created the special 4-pack pricing in hopes of encouraging you to cellar some. The Initial makes for stunning drinking now, but I also love the wine with 5-10 years in the cellar.

There is just no one like Selosse. He has inspired an entire generation of growers with his passion, dedication, unconventional methods and just how mind-bendingly good his Champagnes are.

It's a great pleasure to be able to offer Selosse's Initial. For me, this is the great values of Selosse's line-up. Selosse's Champagnes are wines of singular beauty, and Initial is the perfect initiation to Selosse's majesty.
