The heights that Jean-Paul Jamet reaches has few peers in the entire northern Rhône.
They are amazingly elegant, precise, and clear. It's pretty much that simple.
Today, I'm very happy to present a wide range of Jamet, covering everything from his VdP to his rare Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune.
Jamet’s wines are known for profound elegance and ageability, but the Collines Rhodaniennes offers immediate pleasure while still maintaining the soulful quality we love. This is a wine that the entire staff drinks with abandon. Having said that, this is a bottle that ages well in the midterm. The 2010 still has plenty of life in it. Both of Jamet's Côtes du Rhônes are thrilling wines that are hunted down by those in the know.
Les Plaisirs d'Harys was first released in 2015 and is mainly sourced from an 0.14ha parcel above Ampuis. It's bottled in magnums because it's an absolutely joyous Syrah intended to be drunk with friends.
Jamet hits a level of gracefulness and agility that is reminiscent of Burgundy. This is Côte-Rôtie in full glory, flaunting a poised and detailed expression of minerals, herbs, spice, savory elements, and florality. The aromatics simply soar.
Jamet's Côte Brune is his top bottling and it's painfully rare. It comes from a tiny parcel of old vines. The Côte Brune comes from schist soils and adds a slow-to-evolve sternness and extra dimension of nuance. It's an utterly captivating wine - a monument to the greatest that Côte-Rôtie has to offer. In The Wines of the Northern Rhône, John Livingstone-Learmonth writes: "The Brune is consistently one of the best wines made at Côte Rôtie."
I'll wrap this up. Jamet is one of the long-standing benchmarks of the northern Rhône. You can expect many of the wines below to sell out quickly.
