"Kaleidoscopically Multi-faceted"
2007 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune
The 2007 Clos Ste. Hune is one of the most impressive editions of this wine that we've tasted in some time.
Just over a month ago, I was fortunate enough to attend an epic Trimbach tasting with Clos Ste. Hune going back to 1976. The strength of the 2007 was crystal clear.
We offered the '07 Clos Ste. Hune a couple of years ago leading with: "this is the most eagerly awaited Clos Ste. Hune in some time." Over the past couple of years, it's become clear how impressive the 2007 Clos Ste. Hune truly is.
The 2007 Clos Ste. Hune offers incredible gripping depth with a beautiful sense of elegance and levity. The mineral expression of Clos Ste. Hune is likely one of the most profound in the entire world of wine, and the 2007 drives this point home.
In Alsace, 2007 is undoubtedly a vintage that will be remembered for years to come. The flowering was record-breakingly early and the growing season was long and cool, offering the fruit incredibly elongated (again, in many cases record-breakingly long) hang-times. The wines boast a profound mineral density with beautiful cut and length.
Clos Ste. Hune is one of the world's great wines. The 1.67ha vineyard has an undeniable magic the same way that Montrachet or Clos de Mesnil do.
There's no doubt that Clos Ste. Hune ages amazingly well in the cellar. I expect the 2007 to age with the best of them.
