Being able to offer Keller's Riesling RR has become a luxury.
Every time that we find a parcel of the RR, it feels like a miracle.
We feel especially lucky to offer the 2022 because this is a vintage where wine from Kirchspiel's red soils is complemented by the addition of a barrel from Morstein and Abtserde, two of Keller's top sites. This turbo charged an always thrilling wine.
This is certainly a vintage of the wine where you feel an extra dimension and a radiant core with an extra zip.
Regardless of the vintage, RR is somewhat of an outlier in Keller’s lineup. This is an off-dry bottling where fermentation is allowed to run its course naturally and stop wherever it does. In 2022, fermentations of a barrel of Morstein and Abtserde both stopped short of being dry, so they were added to the Kirchspiel.
At its best, RR reaches a magical balance that helps it evolve beautifully in the cellar. We've tasted numerous bottles with up to a decade of age that have been stunning.
The 2022 RR is silky and has a driving tension. As usual, the RR stands in contrast to Keller's dry wines with its darker mineral expression with wet stones and moist earth, even tobacco and clay. Above all else, it's a wine of an incredible amount of finesse and breeding.
Keller has become one of the most hunted producers in the world. I'll wrap this up. I encourage you to get your orders in early.
