There is just nothing like the Saar, and Florian Lauer is one of its greatest living artists.
We are thrilled to present two Grand Cru, dry-Riesling masterpieces from one of the most respected winemakers in Germany - with prices that, to be honest, simply don't make sense given the quality.

Today, we can offer these Grand Cru dry Rieslings at $55.95 per bottle - inexplicably coming in at a significant discount (30-50%) when compared to the fabled GGs of the Pfalz, Rheinhessen, and Nahe.
Those who know should buy and buy quickly; Lauer suffered significant losses from the frosts of 2024, so while the quality here is simply extraordinary (especially for classicists, more on that below), quantities are paltry.
For the collector new to dry Riesling, these are both simply benchmark wines. Do not miss.
For the purist, there is nothing like the Saar, in its rigor and its energy. Even in riper vintages, the Saar flaunts a certain tension, a certain rush of electricity, an ultra-fine delineation.
In the classic 2024 vintage, we have perhaps the most fine, lithe, and focused GGs that Lauer has shaped, recalling perhaps 2012, 2013, or 2017? Though perhaps the 2024ers are even more razor-sharp and energetic - only time will tell.
The Feils, sourced from a warmer site (relatively speaking) closer to the Saar, is provocative, soaring, and floral with aromatics of candied grapefruit, stone fruit oils, and a kitchen's worth of dried green herbs. In the context of the Saar, there is a generosity here - though it is a generosity with plenty of restraint - a textural plushness with a porcelain fineness.
The Kupp is one of Lauer's most classic GGs, perhaps his most complete? This is a wine that is always finely layered with citrus and stone fruit, apricot and peach, highlighted by a fresh green note, mint and anise, and simply riddled with a saline minerality.
We've written this in the past, but it holds true in 2024: If the Kupp is the perfection of balance, Feils presents a deeper perspective on the Saar. Both are thrilling.
It's always a pleasure to offer Lauer's brilliant Grosses Gewächs. Don't miss these.
