"Layered and multidimensional"
2020 Guillemot-Michel Viré-Clessé Charleston

Guillemot-Michel's Viré-Clessé Charleston is sourced from vines over one-hundred years old.

It's a revelatory, fascinating, and utterly singular white Burgundy.

Lately, I've been expanding my tastings to include some of Burgundy's back roads in search of value. The 2020 Charleston was one of the standouts.

I'm excited to offer Guillemot-Michel's 2020 Viré-Clessé Charleston for $64.95 per bottle.

The 2020 Charleston is a wine that's structured to age. This is a soaring, powerfully energetic, and concentrated Burgundy. Its profile may be surprising for many Burgundy drinkers. The tensile core is complemented by a rich layer of orchard fruits, honey, herbs, and floral notes. There's a very appealing satiny texture.

Since 1992, Pierrette and Marc Guillemot have farmed biodynamically in the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy. One has to assume that the domaine would be much better known if they worked in a more prestigious appellation. The wines are that compelling.

When tasting the 2020 Charleston, its tightly coiled verve stands out. The overall composition and balance are stunning.

This is one of the offers that I've been keen to put together. It's priced very fairly and represents another face of white Burgundy. Above all else, this is simply an impressive wine that demands your attention.

Title

William Kelley, The Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Viré-Clessé Charleston is the most structured, concentrated wine in the range, mingling notions of crisp orchard and stone fruit with scents of clear honey, white flowers, beeswax and mint in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied ample and satiny, it's layered and multidimensional, with impressive depth at the core, racy acids and chalky grip. Derived from the Guillemot family's oldest parcel of vines (dating back to 1918), it's built to age."
