Roilette's wines are built to age. Few Beaujolais can match their evolution in the cellar.
Today, we're happy to offer Roilette's two top wines, Cuvée Tardive and Griffe du Marquis.
Both wines are sourced from two old-vine parcels directly on the border of Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent, which produces Beaujolais' deepest, most complex, and ageworthy wines. Alain Coudert is eager to point out that the division between Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent begins at the tree line, but the soils are exactly the same.

The only difference is that Griffe du Marquis spends time in old Burgundy barrels instead of the larger foudre that Tardive is briefly aged in. There's a long history of aging Beaujolais in old Burgundy barrels, and Griffe du Marquis is Alain Coudert's exploration of this tradition.
Roilette's Cuvée Tardive is one of Beaujolais' longest-lived and most profound wines. By now, most of you know the story: Alain Coudert set out to make the anti-nouveau, a bottle to showcase Beaujolais' aging potential. He definitely proved his point - Tardives with 10 or 15 years of age can be shockingly good.
The 2019 is an intense vintage of the Tardive showing its classic profile. There's meatiness, dark fruits (black cherries, mulberries, plums), olives, licorice, smoke, mint, and an array of floral notes. The architecture and layered complexity are really impressive.
In 2018, the Griffe du Marquis is stunning. Roilette's 2018s were really impressive, and the Griffe du Marquis boasts serious density, mineral-laden power, and harmony. There’s a gorgeous gripping length, and for all of its intensity, the wine is buoyed by elegance.
