2012 Bachelet Côte de Nuits Villages
Very Sharp Pricing on Perennial Overachiever

Each year, I'm shocked by what Denis Bachelet releases.

Bachelet's 2012s are some of the brightest spots in this very strong vintage.

Across the board, the collection feels amplified - the wines are powerfully intense yet they are especially fine and elegant. These qualities really capture what makes Bachelet so special.

While the Charmes is undoubtedly the crown jewel of his stable (with a price tag to match), few producers' entire line-ups overdeliver, from top to bottom, the way that Bachelet's does. I love Bachelet's Bourgogne Rouge, but for me the greatest value is Bachelet's Côte de Nuits Villages.

Bachelet's Côte de Nuits Villages always stands out for its deep structure; it's extremely complex with soil tones, spice and lifted notes of smoke and red fruits. In 2012, there's an attention-grabbing, explosive intensity. For all of the concentration, the '12 Côte de Nuits has a thrilling deeply etched precision.

Bachelet's are some of the most authentic, mesmerizing wines in the whole of Burgundy. There's magic to the wines, a mystery that I can never put my finger on and never tire of. The 2012 Côte de Nuits is a great example of this. I'm happy to offer this, especially at today's pricing.
