Germain's 2017 collection is brilliant.
Today, we're happy to offer one of the top wines of the collection, the Meursault 1er Cru Charmes.
Germain really amazes with the way that the wines show such expansiveness and concentration while being so rigorous, finely etched, and focused.
After having a really impressive bottle of 2017 Meursault AC, I recently tasted the 2017 Charmes and was blown away. Germain's Charmes dramatically highlights the domaine's style.
Along with Genevrières and Perrières, Charmes is one of Meursault's great sites. Compared to the others, Charmes is known for its grandeur that if not handled thoughtfully can get a bit plump. In Germain's hands, Charmes assumes a shocking amount of finesse and definition while possessing seriously impressive volume.
The 2017 Charmes is a dynamite wine. The balance, finesse, and purity is really compelling. It's enveloping, deeply complex, and exactingly detailed.
We originally offered this wine over the summer, but now that the wine is in stock and firing on all cylinders, I wanted to offer it a second time. Along with Roulot and Lafon, this stands as a compelling example of just how much class Charmes can achieve.

Burghound: "Once again there is a strong petrol influence on the citrusy aromas of white peach, matchstick and hazelnut. There is yet again excellent volume to the caressing yet powerful medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the well-delineated, balanced and classier finish. This too is lovely and built-to-age."
