Bachelet's Côte de Nuits is always one of the sweet spots in his impressive lineup.
Typically, Côte de Nuits can be characterful, but also rugged and rustic. Bachelet takes the appellation to a nearly unimaginable level of textural elegance and ageability.
For me, it's the Côte de Nuits where I think the greatest value is in Bachelet's lineup. Year after year, this is one of my go-to bottles.
Bachelet has been on an incredible run of vintages and 2020 is yet another story of profound success.
The 2020 Côte de Nuits-Villages combines a dark fruited profile with a shocking amount of vivacity. It's a vintage where drive and intensity meld seamlessly to earth and mineral. The wine has a deep structure; and complexity with soil tones, spice, and lifted notes of smoke and red fruits. It has serious freshness and length.
The tragedy of this is that Bachelet only has 0.37ha of vines in the Côte de Nuits appellation. The 2020 vintage is another low-yielding one. I'll close by saying quantities are very limited.

Burghound: "An ultra-fresh and more elegant nose features notes of ripe red and dark currant, softer earth and an equally subtle whiff of oak toast. There is excellent punch to the utterly delicious medium weight flavors that exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced and complex finale. Lovely stuff."
