"Lovely tension and energy" -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
As we've said many times before, Roagna's Langhe Rosso is a wine that overdelivers in a big way.
Without a doubt, it represents one of the best values that we know of for traditional Nebbiolo.

Langhe Rosso is a humble designation (like Bourgogne Rouge), but Roagna's has no trouble going head-to-head with Barolos and Barbarescos.
For many, Langhe Rosso is an easy-going category, but Roagna's is made in a very serious style. The wine undergoes a month-long maceration, followed by a couple of years in large oak casks and additional time in the bottle. The grapes come from highly coveted sites in Barolo and Barbaresco (Pira, Albesani, Gallina, and Paje).
I recently tasted through Roagna's 2020s and was blown away by the lineup. The combination of clarity, elegance, and classicism is outstanding.
The 2020 Rosso flaunts all of these qualities. It possesses ripe vintage concentration with cool vintage elegance and precision. The wine is enjoyable but has a sneaky underlying seriousness and beautiful depth.
As always, you get an incredible amount of pedigree, finesse, and nuance for the price. This is a wine that you’ll want to return to again and again. We strongly advise going deep on this.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2020 Langhe Rosso is mostly from young vines in Pira which in this case means vines under 30 years of age. Sweet floral overtones meld into a core of dried red cherry fruit cedar pipe tobacco mint and crushed flowers. Deceptively light in body the Langhe Rosso offers lovely tension and energy. This is a relatively open-knit style for Roagna and a fabulous introduction to the house style."
