For many, Nuits is one of the most successful places of the 2017 vintage. Gouges' 1er Cru Les Pruliers possesses such balance and clarity that it makes a very persuasive argument that special things happened here.

Typically, Les Pruliers has a fortress-like structure. However, the 2017 adds a surprising brightness and lifted quality. Overall, everything is finely etched and pristine in its expression.

While it is endowed with the masculine, savage character that we’ve come to expect from the site, there’s a beautifully radiant expression of dark fruits and earth-saturated minerality. The palate is wildly textural and ends with an explosive, lengthy finish.

Gouges is one of the legendary producers of Nuits St. Georges. The 2017s show him in top form. At this pricing, it should not be missed.
