Along with Morey's Meursault 1er Cru Perrières and Bâtard-Montrachet, their Tesson forms a holy trinity of their lineup.
It's with the Tesson that value and quality intersect in a major way. That's why Pierre Morey's Tesson is always on my buy list.
Recently, I snagged an extremely well-priced parcel of Morey's Tesson, which I'm happy to offer at 20% below the next lowest price in the country.
While Roulot is the producer most closely associated with the Tesson, the site has enjoyed renown for centuries. Tesson is a lieu-dit, but it's widely held in the same regard as some of Meursault's 1er Crus. Its profile is textbook Meursault. Tesson has a lavishness, satiny texture, and dark minerality, but also levity and agility.
In 2021, Tesson has both a serious presence and intense verve. The combination makes the wine exciting. I enjoy its bright floral-inflected profile and focused length. There's also a tightly wound chiseled minerality.
The Morey family has been in Burgundy since the sixteenth century and in Meursault since 1793. Pierre's father, Auguste, worked as a sharecropper for the Lafon family. When Pierre founded the domaine in 1971, he was aided by his father's métayage agreements with Lafon. From 1988 until 2008, Pierre was the cellar master of Domaine Leflaive. Today, Pierre has largely handed over the reins to his daughter, Anne, and the wines haven't missed a beat.
I'm happy to be able to offer a wine of this caliber at this price. This is an offer that shouldn't be missed.

Burghound: "Pretty, cool and airy aromas include those of pear, citrus, hazelnut and a whiff of acacia blossom. There is fine volume to the intense and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a tightly wound, sneaky long, clean, dry and balanced finale. This does though need to develop better depth and while the aging track record for this wine is indisputably excellent, at present the wine seems almost simple. We'll see in time."
