Margherita Otto's Alan Manley is an American who ended up becoming an integral part of one of Piedmont's legendary traditionalists and ultimately establishing a tiny domaine of his own.

We feel really fortunate to have an opportunity to offer this wine. It's currently only available at two other places in the country.
This is one of the cases where the wine and the story feel so intricately connected that some background is essential.
Alan Manley owned a famous wine bar in Colorado and became obsessed with Piedmont wines. It led to him working harvest at Sandrone and Cavallotto along with Mascarello where he assumed a role in the cellar.
While working at Mascarello, Manley was scouting out vineyards for his project. After amassing three choice parcels and supplementing with grapes purchased from friends, Margherita Otto released its first Barolo in 2015. Manley follows traditional methods, including assemblaggio where multiple sites are co-fermented together. Today, Bartolo Mascarello is one of the few domaines that follow this method.
Margherita Otto's 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo boasts a beautiful purity and precision. It presents a beautiful weave of floral and savory notes. There's a very nice rigor and lifted quality to the wine.
