A few years ago, a friend poured me a glass of Arnaud Tessier's Meursault AC, and I was immediately intrigued.
I've been buying the domaine's wines ever since.
Today, I'm happy to present a stunning example of their work, the 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Dessus.
I should also point out that, at $99.95 per bottle, this is one of the great deals on 1er Cru white Burgundy.
Along with Genevrières and Perrières, Charmes is one of Meursault's great sites. Tessier's Charmes is aided by old vines planted in 1948 and being situated in the 1er Cru's sweet spot. Charmes Dessus is just below the village's greatest 1er Cru, Les Perrières.
Tessier's version is Charmes at its best. It's grandiosity and rigor. A knock against Charmes is that the site can be a little plump. That's certainly not the case with Tessier. Charmes here is tension-filled with a packed mid-palate and sculpted precsion.
This is an incredibly exciting bottle of white Burgundy. These days, it's seldom that I get to offer Burgundy from such great terroir and crafted with such skill at a relatively accessible price. Don't miss this!
