"Le Pergole Torte isn’t a great Tuscan or Italian wine. It is simply one of the world’s elite wines." -Antonio Galloni
Pergole Torte is about nuance, elegance, and incisiveness. Simply put, it's a wine that we never tire of.
Today, I'm happy to present a collection of Pergole Torte that I've been amassing for over six months and includes a healthy amount of 3 and 6-liters.
Montevertine is in Radda, one of the coolest, highest-altitude spots in the Chianti Classico zone. It is here, and in Montevertine's hands, that Sangiovese reaches an unparalleled level of nobility. When it comes to Sangiovese, Pergole Torte stands alone for how deeply complex and graceful it is. It's fairly subtle, but mind-blowing nonetheless.
The list below focuses on top vintages. The 2001 Pergole Torte has assumed legend status due to its balance and beautiful transparency. The 2006 is simply profound. 2007 and 2015 are both warmer vintages that highlight Pergole Torte's ability to assume epic proportions while maintaining subtlety and elegance. The 2016 is a tour de force that seems destined for the best-ever category.
Pergole Torte has become an obsession of mine. It's a wine of such class and ravishing beauty that it really exists on its own plane. I feel fortunate to be able to put this offer together, but please be warned that there's not a lot available of any of the wine.
