Monument of Bordeaux Classicism
1970 Château Montrose St. Estèphe

Montrose's 1970 is a Crush favorite.

For us, it represents an incredibly compelling example of old-school classic Bordeaux. We've tasted it numerous times and have consistently loved this bottle.

Montrose is known for aging beautifully and the 1970 stands as a monument to this.

All of the Montrose hallmarks are on bold display. There's great power and depth with dark fruits, cigar box, spice and earth. Even at forty-five years of age, there's a mineral-driven sternness that we love.

1970 Montrose is very personal for me. It was the first bottle of great old Bordeaux that I drank. Many years later, it's every bit as stunning today, if not more so.

I drank my most recent bottle this fall and it was beautifully complex in a way that only old Bordeaux can be. It has a hauntingly layered and sophisticated palate with an amazing spectrum of nuance.

For me, Montrose sums up so much of what makes Bordeaux one of the world's great wines. There's nothing showy about it. What it offers is incredible longevity, subtle complexity and class. I'm really pleased to offer this.
