Foillard's Cuvee Corcelette is one of the most elegant expressions of Gamay we know. Regardless of the vintage, it's a wine that's very much about the aromatics. They cover a fascinatingly wide spectrum and are delivered with incredible clarity.
This helps to explain why Foillard's Corcelette is one of the Beaujolais that we reach for most often.
It's impossible to write about Corcelette and not compare it to Côte du Py, Foillard's flagship and one of the monuments of Morgon. Côte du Py is deep and meaty, with a certain sternness and structure. In contrast, Corcelette shows the more delicate side of Morgon.
Corcelette originates from 80-year-old vines planted in sandy soil. This is Gamay, cast in silk, with a shimmering presentation of bright red fruits, flowers, and ultra-clear stony minerality.
Expect the 2023 Corcelette to have an irresistible satiny texture and depth along with vigor and snap (it's just cloaked in satin). The 2023 Corcelette is beguiling. The aromatics cover a fascinatingly wide spectrum and are delivered with incredible clarity. In short, this is a superb vintage of Corcelette.
Like just about everyone else, we love Foillard. Every vintage, we buy as much of it as we can get our hands on. We encourage you to go deep on the 2023. You'll want it around in quantity.
