Jean Foillard is one of the greats of Beaujolais.
His sensitive winemaking renders Gamay with incredible clarity and textural appeal. This has earned him a reputation that needs little introduction.
When Foillard's Corcelette debuted well over a decade ago, it served as a perfect contrast to his legendary Côte du Py.
If Côte du Py is rich and wild-cherry-accented, Corcelette has an intricate delicacy. Corcelette shows the more feminine, delicate side of Morgon. It originates from 80-year-old vines, planted in sandy soil. This is Gamay cast in silk with a shimmering presentation of bright red fruits, flowers, and ultra-clear stony minerality.
All Foillards have an amazing textural intrigue, but here you get an underlying minerality that's profoundly tactile. We love the wine's energetic mineral streak and nuanced floral notes. You can expect Foillard's 2019 Corcelette to have an unusual amount of presence and depth while still being seriously gulpable.
Like just about everyone else, we love Foillard. Every vintage we buy as much of it as we can get our hands on. We encourage you to take advantage of the special 4-pack pricing. You'll want this around in quantity.
