Nanclares y Prieto: 2019-2022

Posted by Joe Salamone

Nanclares y Prieto make some of the most stunning examples of the Albarino grape that we know.

There's no doubt that the wine world has taken notice. At this point, allocations are often doled out in three or six bottle quantities.

Today, we're happy to offer a wide range of Nanclares y Prieto's wines, including one of their red cuvées, stretching across four vintages.

This is our first offering of Nanclares y Prieto outside of their Dandelion cuvées. It is an offer that I don't think we'll be able to replicate any time soon.

Below you'll find descriptions of each wine being offered.

Generally speaking, these are incredibly pure, savory, and mysterious wines. They have so much nuance that very often they have a haunting quality.

These are some of our favorite wines in all of Spain. Please keep in mind that quantities are very limited.

2021 Tempus Vivendi Albarino
A blend of parcels in sandy granite and clay from the area of Tempus Vivendi Albarino done in tank. A salty, and bright, expression of Albarino.

2021 O Bocoi Vello de Silvia
Foot-trodden grapes sourced from 25-95 years old vines aged in a large chestnut barrel. This is deeper, more savory, and full of mystery.

2022 Soverribas Albarino
From three vineyards in Meaño and Ribadumia with vine age that ranges from 35 to 100 years on sandy granitic soils with clay. Aged in large old barrel. Very finessed and sleekly mineral.

2019 & 2022 A Graña Albarino
Sourced from the Xesteiriña vineyard, A Graña is savory and focused. It always possesses an incisive stony minerality.

2021 Paraje Mina Albrarino
This is the vineyard that came with the original purchase in 1993. From granite sands in the Cambado area. This is very marine influenced and finessed.

2020 & 2021 Miñato de Raña
The only red wine on offer today. Made in Ribeira Sacra with Roberto Regarom and from a hundred year old vineyard, Miñato de Raña is a blend of red grapes, Mencía and Garnacha Tintorera, along with white grapes (Godello and Palomino). The 0.6ha vineyard is steeply terraced with granite soils. This is always a supremely fresh wine that's low in alcohol and showing plenty of complexity with red fruits, floral tones, and spice notes.
