Alex Moreau is simply one of the most talented producers of white Burgundy.
Moreau's wines are explosive, rigorously sculpted, and above all, pure. I'm always taken by their pristine high-toned gracefulness.
One of my favorite places to witness Moreau's talent is at the Bourgogne and Villages level. These are wines that greatly surpass expectations.
The 2017 Chassagne boasts what makes Moreau's villages wine so exciting. It offers up radiant stone fruits with intense minerality and perfectly integrated richness. There's an impressive mingling of presence, length, and elegance.
Along with 2014, the 2017 white Burgundies are some of the best I've tasted in recent years. I feel lucky to be able to offer Moreau's Chassagne. The 2017 whites have largely disappeared from the market and this is especially true for producers with a cult following like Moreau.

Burghound: "A pungent and less elegant array offers up notes of resin, rosemary oil and freshly sliced apple. Once again there is an attractive vibrancy to the nicely delineated and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a citrusy, saline and saliva-inducing finish. Good stuff for its level and note that there is sufficient structure such that this should age well over the next 5 to 8 years."
