I'll keep this short. Allemand's reputation is too big, and the quantities are too small to drag this out.
Allemand's wines are very special. It's hard not to agree with the late Josh Raynolds when he wrote: "let me state unequivocally that there is no estate in the entire Rhône Valley making finer wines."
The wines take Cornas to a level of expressiveness and finesse that no one can compete with.
Offering Allemand's 2020 Cornas feels like a perfect follow-up to my wine of the year, 2020 Jamet Côte-Rôtie. Both producers are long-standing benchmarks of the northern Rhône.
The 2020 Chaillot is another wine that showcases just how good this vintage is in the northern Rhône. The Chaillot displays a combination of richness, purity, and an underlying structure that the vintage weaves together so well. There are few producers who could harness the year's characteristics to better effect.
The 2020 Chaillot is a testament to Allemand's incredible ability to render ultra-focused, lifted, and silken Cornas. Allemand is simply without peer.
