Along with Pierre Gonon, Chave produces our favorite expression of St. Joseph.
Few producers are able to render Syrah with as much depth, detail, and sophistication.
We've been amazed at how well Chave's St. Joseph ages. A 1995 opened a handful of years ago blew us away. Today, we're happy to offer a back-vintage Chave St. Joseph from the 2015 vintage.
As you can imagine, the 2015 Chave St. Joseph is simply stunning.
In the northern Rhône, the 2015 vintage is the total package: there's power, layered complexity, and energy. It is well poised to be one of the best vintages of the past two decades.
The Chave family has deep roots in St. Joseph, dating back to 1481. Jean-Louis has been a major proponent of St. Joseph’s potential, buying choice parcels and painstakingly rebuilding terraces there since the 1990s. Today, the Chave family home is in Mauves, in the beating heart of St. Joseph.
The 2015 is a pristine and seamlessly elegant version of Chave's St. Joseph. When you taste it, every component seems to be in place. There's incredible poise, concentration, and length.
It's rare that I get to offer Chave's St. Joseph with some age. I should warn you that this is a modest parcel. I suggest that you get your order in early.
