Nuits through Chambolle Eyes
2012 Mugnier Nuits St. Georges
1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale
"Impressive complexity... perfectly balanced"

Since the 2008 vintage, Mugnier's wines have hit another level.

Mugnier is one of the Côte d'Or's very best.

For the past few vintages, I've been very bullish on Mugnier's Clos de la Maréchale.

I'm happy to offer Mugnier's 2012 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale for $108.95 per bottle.

What I love so much about Mugnier's Clos de la Maréchale is how elegant and pure it is. It's shocking. Nuits is known for its muscle, its characterful rustic edge. Without betraying the inherent power of the Nuits, Mugnier's 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale renders it with an incredible amount of refinement. The wine delivers well-delineated notes of earth, mineral, dark red fruits and flowers.

I make it a point to offer Clos de la Maréchale every vintage for its value and its sheer beauty. Mugnier's elite status hasn't gone unnoticed and pricing has increased in pace with his stardom. Clos de la Maréchale offers some shelter from the pricing.

In 2012, this was really difficult to make happen. The vineyard was rocked by hail - 60 percent of the yields were lost. This is an offer that I have to keep low-key.

As you can imagine, the 2012 Clos de la Maréchale is a very serious expression of the 1er Cru. The site is amplified in a big way. It's intensely soil-inflected with floral and spice notes. There's a crazy punch and concentration to the wines with a deeply etched detail.

Mugnier is always in short supply, but in 2012 it's just painful. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
