One of Burgundy's Best Village Wine - Back Vintages:
2016 & 2019 Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée

Posted by Ian McFadden

For over a decade, Mugneret-Gibourg's Vosne-Romanée has been one of the red Burgundies that I drink most often.

It's easy to fall for the wine. For me, it checks all of the boxes for what I'm after in Burgundy.

Few wines combine a seductive texture with an ultra-fine and elegant precision. There's no better example of a village-level Vosne, and it's one of the greatest examples of a village to be found anywhere in Burgundy.

Today, I'm very happy to offer a rare back-vintage parcel of 2016 and 2019 Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée.

I've had a fondness for the 2016 Vosne since its release. It's a wine that is cast in velvet while maintaining an impressive underlying structure. All of this is wrapped in a very elegant frame.

The 2019 is a concentrated example of their Vosne, boasting more spice and polished swagger than the norm. There is a really lovely elegance to the wine. Layers of spice, floral notes, and earthy undertones mingle. We recently tasted the 2019, and it was gorgeous.

I'll wrap this up. Snagging the Vosne with some age on it always feels like a stroke of good luck. I'm very happy to be able to offer these two stellar vintages of the wine.
