"One of the all-time greats" - 1999 Jamet Côte-Rôtie

Posted by Joe Salamone

I'll keep this brief. Jamet's 1999 Côte-Rôtie is legendary, and this is a very small parcel.

I expect this to disappear quickly. Finding older Jamet in any sort of quantity has become nearly impossible.

Jamet is one of the benchmarks of the entire northern Rhône. When it comes to classically styled Côte-Rôtie, Jamet is the name to know. The wines have an ultra-fine texture, pinpoint detail, and vivid clarity.

The domaine has produced many amazing examples of Côte-Rôtie, and along with 1991 and 1998, the 1999 is one of the greats of the nineties. It's among the top wines of the vintage.

Jamet's 1999 Côte-Rôtie combines a rich, layered power with great purity and detail. It's a finely calibrated powerhouse that is jammed packed with complexity and somehow incredibly harmonious.

This is an incredible wine from a historic benchmark. If you're interested, I would not hesitate as I don't expect this to stick around for very long. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.

Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate (2015): "One of the all-time greats from this estate is the still inky colored 1999 Cote Rotie. From a hot year that had many vignerons struggling with vinification issues, Jean-Paul compared 1999 to 2009 more than once. Sensationally rich, concentrated and full-bodied, it reveals a classic bouquet of pepper, smoked herbs, black currants and licorice. One sexy Cote Rotie that's just hard to resist, it's drinking perfectly today but will evolve nicely for another decade or more."
