The Lessona is a consistent favorite from their strong lineup. Lessona is a tiny appellation in northern Piedmont that totals less than 20 hectares. The Nebbiolo grown here is defined by its delicacy, soaring aromatics, and elegance.
Colombera & Garella capture Lessona in an utterly brilliant way. Cristiano Garella likes working reductively and this allows him to render the Lessona with startling clarity and aromatics. There's an incredible gracefulness and energetic mineral backbone.
In the 2017, the wine is sleek with explosive aromatics and more presence than is typical for the wine. It has crystal clear layers of red fruits that are complicated by floral and spice notes and an incisive minerality.
Garella is the former winemaker at Tenute Sella, Lessona's historic producer, and knows the region inside and out. His good friend Giacomo Colombera comes from a winemaking family that’s been in the region since the 1990s. With the help of Giacomo’s family, they work in Bramaterra, Coste della Sesia, and Lessona.
