Pomerol was the star of the 2006 vintage, and Lafleur represents its high point. The 2006 Lafleur leads with suave and powerful dark fruit, followed by an emphatic core of iron minerality with subtle earthy notes.
Lafleur is an intense and grand wine. It combines power, opulence and an ultra-firm thread of earth, stone and wildly complex mineral nuances. For all of its sheer magnitude, nothing seems forced or contrived. Jancis Robinson sums up Lafleur as "terroir transmitted into bottle."
The wine is famous for its high percentage of Cabernet Franc combined with Merlot. Certainly, the Cab Franc contributes to Lafleur's renowned structure and minerality.
