There are few wines that we love as much. At this point, there are plenty of top-flight Muscadet's in the market, but Pépière is still in a league of his own.

In 2013, Pépière produced wines that are radiant and crackling, brimming with vibrancy and clarity. 2013 was a very demanding vintage. We're really happy with Pépière's wines, especially when it comes to Clisson and Monnières-Saint Fiacre. Both wines see extended lees contact and the richness that results found its perfect match in 2013's bright driving acidity. The tension between richness and verve is thrilling.
Like Clisson, Monnières-Saint Fiacre is recognized as a Cru Communal (there are currently seven Crus.) It's an area of gneiss with sand and gravel soil. Previously the grapes went into Pépière’s Gras Moutons. You can think of Monnières-Saint Fiacre as a bookend to Clisson. Compared to wines from granite, like Clisson, gneiss produces more aromatic and expansive expressions of the Melon de Bourgogne grape. The 2013 Monnières-Saint Fiacre offers up loads of airy minerality with currents of citrus and a dusting of anise and other herbs. There's a great backbone of acidity.
Clisson is from 50-110 year old vines in the southern part of Muscadet on granite. In contrast to Monnières-Saint Fiacre, Clisson is more intense and direct in its palate-saturating saline mineral intensity. The 2013 Clisson is a beautifully balanced edition of the wine, elevated by brightness, lift and detail.
The wines coming out of Pépière are some of the greatest values out there, especially when you factor in the ageability. While they're irresistible in their youth, both of these bottlings will easily age for a decade plus. We created 6-packs so that you could stock up for that reason.
