For nearly the past decade, Oddero has been in the zone. Even in this context, their 2019s are stunning. Oddero produced some of the most impressive Barolos of the vintage.
Today, we're excited to offer the two stars of Oddero's incredible 2019 lineup, Villero and Rocche di Castiglione in bottles and magnums.
Villero is one of the top sites of Barolo’s Castiglione Falletto. The Villero cru faces southwest and has mostly clay soil, which gives the wines their sense of muscle, as well as their boldness and plush fruit, flower, and earth.
In 2019, you get an amazing combination of depth, verve, and clarity. It delivers power, clear terroir imprints, and a cool, bright profile. In short, it possesses ripe vintage concentration with cool vintage finesse and precision.
In Rocche, you find a gorgeous balance between the more muscular Barolos of Monforte and Serralunga and the more perfumed and lacy examples from La Morra. Rocche leads with beautifully complex floral, red fruit, and spice notes, backed by a firm edge of raw tannin. Above all, Rocche is about aromatics and class.
Oddero's 2019 Rocche delivers. It explodes with finely delineated aromatics and has tremendous finesse and lift on the palate. There's something intricately grand about the 2019 while remaining light on its feet. The impressive architecture promises that it will age beautifully.
It seems that with each vintage, Oddero's wines get stronger and stronger. Oddero is making some of the most compelling wines in all of Piedmont. These are a testament to their superlative work.
