What the already-legendary 2021 vintage in Germany did for Riesling, it also did for Pinot Noir.
One of the great clichés of the wine world is that Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is like "red Riesling" - which is to say ultra-light, linear, elegant, weightless.

There are few Spätburgunders anywhere in Germany that achieve the compact, dancing focus of Twardowski's 2021 Spätburgunder "Ardoises."
Today we have a small parcel available at $119.95, the lowest price in the country. This is not an inexpensive bottle, yet its brilliance cannot be denied.
Many of you have heard of these wines; a few have maybe tried them. Despite their very limited production, they are beginning to make waves. The 2021 Ardoises shouldn't be missed.
For serious Pinot Noir fans, even in warmer vintages, the Mosel presents Pinot Noir at its most linear and daring. In the classic 2021 vintage, his "Ardoises" Spätburgunder is incisive and ethereal - rendered in incredible high-resolution. The detail is simply unreal.
Twardowski farms only a few hectares in the Mosel's Hofberg vineyard. This is a spare-no-expense operation with genetic material from top growers in Burgundy and barrels from the likes of DRC, Leroy, Mugnier, and more.
The 2021 is a vintage that will age easily for 5-10+ years. If you do drink sooner, give the wine a good decant. The wine is agile, but it is also structured.
