"Positively Zen-Like"-Burghound
2013 Roulot Meursault
1er Cru Clos des Bouchères
We're still in the throes of the holidays, so I'm just going to come out and say it: Roulot's 2013s are amazing.
Only time will tell, but the 2013 may be my favorite Bouchères to date.
It possesses so much elegance and clarity. In 2013, it seems like all of the potential of this site was actualized.
Roulot is producing some of the most riveting and mineral-driven expressions of Chardonnay on the planet. It's amazing that Roulot has been able to reach such vaunted status with no Grand Cru holdings.
We've been consistently blown away by the 2013 White Burgs. They possess startling minerality and clarity. It's exactly the sort of vintage that we've been hoping for.
What we love about Bouchères is how saturatingly mineral it is while being amazingly graceful with a subtle, building complexity. The 2013 delivers all of this with a cool, unyielding precision. We've never seen the wine so explosively bright with floral tones and stony minerality.
In short, you have one of the masters of white wine and a site in perfect form. This is really impressive. And not to be missed.
