There's something indisputably noble and singular about Château Simone.
When their rouge is on, it makes this point very clear.
Simone's rouge has a class, subtlety and lift that absolutely redefines what's possible in Provence.
The 2013 is a beautifully silken and vivacious vintage of the wine. It's a vintage where all of Simone's signatures really jump.
Of course, to a large extent, this is a story of terroir. Simone's area of Palette has limestone vineyards that face north, a rarely seen exposition. The north facing vineyards plus the limestone give Simone's wines shocking poise and finesse.
Though there’s another producer or two, Château Simone, which has been in the hands of the Rouget family for seven generations, rules the Palette appellation. Their care and insight really shows in the slow-to-unfold, nuanced beauty of the wines.
We're really impressed by the 2013 Simone Rouge. The 2013 has a wonderful brightness, detail and concentration. In this vintage, Simone's unusual cepage (there's everything from Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, etc. to Tibouren, Picpoul Noir, Theoulier, Castet, and Manosquin) offers up explosive aromatics of spice, earth, red fruits and floral notes.
There's a glorious finesse and harmony to the 2013. It's a safe bet that it will age really, really well. We created special 4-pack pricing to encourage you to cellar some and watch it evolve for the next couple decades.
