Rare Loire
2011 Saumur Blanc Clos des Carmes

Brézé is one of the greatest sites for Chenin in the Loire.

Clos des Carmes is a choice sub-parcel of Brézé and a monopole for Guiberteau.

I have little doubt that this is an offer that will blow up. Clos des Carmes is too rare and Guiberteau's wines are too compelling for it not to.

Guiberteau's wines have quickly gained a cult following. They're so well made that they're immediately attention-grabbing. Add this to his working at Clos Rougeard and it's easy to understand his meteoric rise.

The wines deliver a saturating intensity, wild complexity and such clear detail. Clos des Carmes is arguably the peak of the range.

In 2011, the Clos des Carmes boasts a tremendous scale with a vibrant chalky core. There's something undeniably noble to its presentation and how finessed and lifted it is.

I'm going to wrap this up. There's no reason to fan the fire. When it comes to Guiberteau's top wines, there's never enough to go around. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
