Rare - Star of the Vintage
2011 Roumier Morey St. Denis
1er Cru Clos de la Bussière

For me, and pretty much any other Burgundy fanatic, it doesn't get much better than Roumier.

Which explains why Roumier's wines are nearly impossible to find. Those who know snap them up before they hit the shelves.

The best way to underscore the rarity is by saying this is the first time we've been able to offer Roumier.

Finding Roumier's Bussière in anything more than a case or two is almost impossible. When I saw this decently sized parcel of Roumier's '11 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière, I jumped on it.

I'm always on the hunt for Roumier, but I'm particularly excited that this parcel shook loose in the 2011 vintage. Without a doubt, Roumier's 2011s are some of the stars of the vintage. They're stunning wines.

I'm happy to offer Roumier's 2011 Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière at $134.95 per bottle.

The 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière is likely Roumier's most under-the-radar site. This is a good thing - Bussière is the killer value in Roumier's line-up.

Value notwithstanding, once initiated it's easy to get obsessed with Roumier's Bussière. It's a wine whose life in the cellar is shocking.

John Gilman captures Bussière well when he writes, it's "deep complex and very long-lived... and is very deserving of a place in any conscientiously-stocked Burgundy collection."

The 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière sits in the southern section of Morey at the border of Chambolle and is a monopole. It lies below the Grand Cru Clos de Tart and has very stony soil.

Roumier's 2011s are amazingly transparent wines and the '11 Bussière is a textbook example of the site. It boasts a serious, ageworthy structure and a depth of minerality and game that marks Bussière. The silky and refined tannins of the 2011 Burgundy vintage give the wine a beautiful elegance even at this stage.

Roumier is simply one of the great producers in Burgundy and his 2011s clearly show why - they're that fine, complex and transparent. Like I said, I've never been able to offer Roumier to an audience this large. This is an offer to take advantage of.
