Vincent Dureuil produces the only cult wines of CĂ´te Chalonnaise.
The wines work on a scale and a level of precision that's jaw-dropping.
Today, I'm happy to offer Dureuil-Janthial's two top wines, 2023 Rully 1er Cru Gresigny VV and Meix Cadot VV.Â

Both of these wines are aggressively hunted down, and it's rare that I find them in anything except tiny quantities. I should warn you from the start that quantities are very modest.Â
The Gresigny is the most linear and mineral-laden of the lineup. This is where the finely etched and detailed signature of Dureuil-Janthial reaches its apogee. The vines that were planted in 1945 must contribute to the stony density of the wine.
The Meix Cadot VV is the flagship bottling of the domaine. The vines were planted in 1917. Meix Cadot VV is a tour de force - it's gripping, finely etched, and has astounding length and complexity.Â
Dureuil-Janthial's 2023s combine a very appealing expansive quality with serious rigor and finesse. They're simply mind-blowing.Â
Vincent Dureuil returned to his family's domaine in 1994, and we've been fans of the wines since we opened in 2005. From the start, Dureuil had a singular focus on quality.
With that said, in recent vintages, the wines have hit another level. The wines have gotten even more precise and lifted, boasting a subtle elegance that makes the wines really stand out. This duo of 2023s shows the estate in top form.Â
