Rarely Seen Jamet: 2016 Jean-Paul Jamet Côtes du Rhône

Posted by Joe Salamone

This is an offer that I frankly never imagined being able to do.

It's always been extremely difficult to find Jamet's Côtes du Rhône in quantity.

If you go looking for the 2016, you'll find only one listing and six bottles in the U.S. In the past, we’d be happy to receive a case or two. This parcel of 2016 isn’t by any means large, but given the context it feels like a windfall.

Jamet has long been the standard-bearer for traditional Côte-Rôtie. The Côtes du Rhône is all Syrah sourced from some vineyards within Côte-Rôtie and others just outside of it.

The Côtes du Rhône emphatically demonstrates the gracefulness and agility that makes Jamet's Côte-Rôtie so compelling. It's a wine that shows a lot of poise and detailed expressions of minerals, herbs, spice, savory elements and florality. The aromatics simply soar.

The 2016 possesses unusual depth, clarity and refinement. We love the 2016 Northern Rhône and Jamet's Côtes du Rhône shows the concentration, verve and sleek minerality that makes the vintage so appealing to us.

Before wrapping up, I should warn you that I anticipate this modest parcel selling out quickly. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
