Rarely Seen Lapierre
2014 Lapierre Morgon Sans Soufre

Lapierre's Sans Soufre bottling is always difficult to nail down in quantity.

In 2014, it was especially ugly. Lapierre's 2014s are beautiful and people quickly flocked towards the Sans Soufre, which was particularly successful this vintage.

Lapierre is always one of the most delicious wines on earth, but in certain vintages it hits another level. There's a structure, complexity and impact that's special. These are the vintages of Lapierre that we go long on.

We've made the comparison a bunch of times over many vintages and it's one very much worth making. Generally speaking, the Sans Soufre is more expressive, deeper and has a more intense mineral impression.

The 2014 Sans Soufre combines an imposing stature with a dazzling minerality and acidity. There's lots of palate presence with a pristine and impressively delineated expression. Lapierre always has an amazing clarity, but 2014 is really noteworthy in this regard.

There have been few vintages that can rival Lapierre's 2014s (2002, 2005 and maybe 2009.) I'm very happy to be able to offer the Sans Soufre bottling in 2014.
