This is one of my best purchases of the past couple of months.
We love everything from Chevillon. They are some of the most honest, terroir-specific wines I know. Year after year, the Vaucrains is one of our favorites.
Vaucrains is one of the great vineyards of Nuits St. Georges, legendary for producing muscular wines that are chock full of dark fruits and earth. Sourced from vines over eighty years old, Chevillon's has been the benchmark for decades, and their Vaucrains is fortress-like and wildly complex.
It is an incredibly deep, mineral, and savage wine. Yet, for all of its intensity, Chevillon's is marked by a clarity and precision that only the best Burgundies achieve.
The red Burgundies of 2005 are extraordinary. It's a vintage of nearly unheard-of structure and terroir imprint. It's a very special vintage and one that seems destined to be included with the greats of the past fifty years.
As you can imagine, the 2005 Vaucrains is a formidable wine. It's an intense weave of dark fruits, animal, and earthy minerality. Even in the context of Chevillon, this is structured for the long haul.Â
I'll close with a warning. Quantities are very limited and we expect to allocate. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.Â
