Castello Tricerchi's Brunello AD 1441 is one of the greatest surprises of this year.
It's a producer that we haven't heard of before tasting the wines last month.
The 2016 AD 1441 blew us away. It's a wine that boasts impressive muscle and architecture but is elevated by great precision and an ultra-clear expression of terroir.
We don't offer Brunello often. However, when Brunello delivers, it's a wine that we find totally captivating. Castello Tricerchi nailed it with their 2016 AD 1441.
It has a magnificent depth. The perfumed aromatics, balance, and finesse are at the forefront, giving way to a luxurious and textural finish. It delivers a complex palate of vivid red fruit, minerals, flowers, dried herbs, and spices. There’s a rigorous structure, complemented by refined tannins and outstanding length. This is authentic, profound Brunello at the highest level of winemaking.
Castello Tricerchi is located in the cooler northern section of Montalcino and follows organic farming with some biodynamic practices. The AD 1441 comes from the 0.4ha Sasso vineyard. Production is around 100 cases per vintage.
The 2016 is among our favorite Brunello vintages of the past decade. The wines are incredibly expressive, pure, and long. They're also bright and seriously structured. The 2016 AD 1441 flaunts the best that the vintage has to offer.
This is simply a dynamite bottle of Brunello. It shows how this is one of the noble wines of Italy. We created special 4-pack pricing to encourage you to cellar a few bottles. I bet it will be stunning with age.
