"The finish resonates with bell-clear purity and leaves one panting for the next animating and enthralling sip." -David Schildknecht
What Müller does with Scharzhofberg is magical. He renders the site beautifully clear, with a steely finesse and indisputable nobility.
No wines on earth offer the thrilling contrast between intensity and dancing, intricate delicacy. The wines can haunt you for days.
His upper prädikat wines (Auslese and above) boast a grandness of scale and ultra-refined complexity that places them squarely among the world's great wines. We have no hesitation including these with the best white Burgundies.
The 2015 Auslese drives this home in a profound way. Egon Müller compares his 2015s to his 1990s, which are amazing wines - some of the best of the past few decades. The 2015 Auslese is absolutely brilliant. The wine boasts a soaring complexity, precision, and incredible mineral drenched purity.
Over the past few years, we've watched interest in Müller explode. There's no denying the wines. Once people start tasting them, it's over. Finding the wines, especially the Auslesen, has become very hard. I'm happy to offer this, but I should warn you that quantities are limited.

David Schildknecht, Vinous Media: "As in 2014, there is but a single Müller Scharzhofberger Auslese (albeit also an “Auslese Goldkapsel”) from 2015. White peach, pear and quince garlanded in rowan and honeysuckle inform a heady nose and a luscious, creamy, glycerol-rich palate. Bright, penetratingly intense fruit essences are joined by incisive fresh cress, bittersweet candied lime peel and crystalline stony impingements, all of which serve for vibratory animation, while confectionary notes of almond paste and salted caramel generate not only enhanced richness but also saliva-inducement. The finish resonates with bell-clear purity and leaves one panting for the next animating and enthralling sip."
