There's simply no better expression of Syrah on the planet than Chave's Hermitage.
It's the crown jewel of the northern Rhône.
The Chave family has been making wine on the slopes of the northern Rhône for over 500 years. Chave allows Hermitage to shine in all of its majestic nobility and ageworthiness like no one else.
Chave's 2006 Hermitage is very much in the classical vein. It's a vintage in the northern Rhône that's marked by serious concentration married to a good amount of energy. Chave's 2006 has an uncommon elegance, boasting how hauntingly complex Syrah's aromatic and mineral expression can be.
Here you have a vintage where the nobility of Chave is laid bare. There's such clarity, harmony, and complexity. This is also a very good time to check in on the wine. It's showing beautifully now while promising to age well for at least another decade on its balance and rigorous architecture.
When it comes to the northern Rhône, Chave is king. I'm going to wrap this up. I should mention that finding back-vintage Chave is getting increasingly difficult. I'm very happy to offer.
