Cuvée Frédéric Emile is a perennial overachiever.
When it comes to Riesling, the Trimbachs are royalty. Trimbach differentiates itself from nearly every other Alsatian producer by the clarity and detail of their wines. There is always a premium placed on rigor.
In the Trimbach dry Riesling lineup, their epic Clos St. Hune and Freddy Emile are unquestionably king and queen.
While it is very clear that Clos Ste. Hune is a monument that stands on its own, the chiseled Freddy Emile is not far off the mark and ridiculously well priced. It's a wine of enormous stature and longevity.
Part of the explanation is the pedigreed slopes from which the wine comes - the Grand Crus Geisberg and Osterberg. These clay-limestone soils are stuffed with fossils that infuse the wines with rocky, powerful, deep and forceful minerals.
The 2013 Cuvée Frédéric Emile is a powerful and structured vintage. The saline minerality is at the forefront and is complicated by stone fruits and floral notes. It is animated by Frédéric Emile's signature purity.
It's been some time since we've offered Frédéric Emile. It's exciting to have an opportunity to offer the 2013. The wine is entering its drinking window and has plenty in reserve for years to come.
