"The only problem with these wines is finding them, as the tiny production is eagerly snapped up upon release by a near-cult following" -Peter Liem
Production of Lilbert's Perle is somewhere around 165 cases per release - a mere drop in Champagne terms.
A few years ago, we came across a couple of cases of Perle and based on reputation, took a flyer on it. It quickly became an obsession of ours.
We've been very happy to watch Lilbert's Perle gain a very strong following. The combination of fascination and value can't be denied. We typically get a single parcel of the wine and it sells out the day that we offer it.
At as low as $55.95 per bottle, Lilbert's Perle is one of the best deals on Champagne around.
Lilbert's Perle is sourced from old vines from their Grand Cru vineyards (Cramant, Chouilly, and Oiry) and bottled with lower pressure. The old vines reveal themselves in the wine's mineral depth and intensity.
With that said, Perle is one of the least "showy" Champagnes that I know. For all of its gripping minerality and serious vinosity, this is a Champagne that thrives on understatement and finesse. Its quiet voice, its delicacy that belies its persistence, complexity, and overall breeding is a big part of what makes Perle so compelling.
Lilbert's Perle delivers the energy and the precisely detailed chalky minerality that makes Côte des Blancs some of the most captivating Chardonnays around. Lilbert's Perle excels in terms of harmony, complexity, and elegance.
The value here, not to mention the food-friendliness, sheer quality, and individual personality shouldn't be missed. This is only being sent to people who've supported our Champagne program. Still, quantities are very limited, and allocations are likely.
