Ruinart with Nendo: Form, Function, Elegance
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Kotoli Gift Set
Extremely Limited Edition
Portion of Proceeds Benefits Earthquake/Tsunami Victims in Japan
"There are so many small '!' moments hidden in our everyday..."
- Designer Oki Sato, Nendo
Here's to the small "!" moments - and to the big ones, too.
The oldest Champagne house, Ruinart, has teamed up this season with Nendo, Oki Sato's über-hip, Tokyo-based design studio to create the "Kotoli" gift set that's perfect for toasting "!" moments, no matter the size or occasion.
The special, extremely limited edition Ruinart Kotoli set is stunning, made of sleek, bleached wood in a Bento box fashion. The look is modern and organic, geometrically designed to both house for storage (when closed) and hold for service (when open) a bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, two signature stemless Champagne flutes and a unique, silver bottle stopper that extends to actually hold the flutes in mid-air.
"Kotoli" means "little birds" in Japanese, and Nendo's smart setup is such that the flutes gracefully resting on the thin silver suspensions actually mimic the natural look of small birds perched on a wire.
We're the only retailer in the U.S. with the Kotoli boxes, and they're $94.95 each, which include a bottle of Blanc de Blancs, two flutes, silver stopper and box.
Ruinart donates part of the proceeds to help victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, by way of the Architecture for Humanity organization.
Elegance is a word that always comes up in describing Ruinart Champagne, and I love that it's on display here not only in the wine itself - which is gorgeous, as always, in its vibrancy and purity of fine-lined Chardonnay - yet also in the actual presentation. The Nendo collaboration speaks to Ruinart's ongoing support of the arts as well as their dedication to the elegant aesthetic of fine Champagne, its service and ultimately the simple yet special act of its enjoyment.
I've long advocated that Champagne be enjoyed for a multitude of reasons, but none more so than exactly the kind of small moments Nendo seeks to pay homage to. This is a perfect gift for anyone who loves Champagne, design, simple picnics in the park (all you need to provide is the sushi) or all of the above.
Again, please note that this is an ultra-limited production and there will not be anymore.
