Saving The Best For Last:
2014 Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Magnums

Posted by Ian McFadden

A few months ago I was lucky enough to snag a parcel of 2014 Lamy magnums.

Today, we come to the end of the parcel. We've offered magnums of Derrière Chez Edouard, Frionnes, and Chatenière. In many ways, we saved the best for last with our offer of the 2014 En Remilly magnums.

To underscore the rarity, I should point out that there are no other listings in the U.S. for Lamy's 2014 En Remilly in any format.

En Remilly is one of the best sites of Saint-Aubin. It is the go-to site for Burgundy lovers. It's a powerful and rigorous expression of Chardonnay with the sort of architecture that allows it to age beautifully.

The 2014 vintage produced simply extraordinary white Burgundies. It's one of the best young white Burgundy vintages that I've tasted. There's an impression of completeness and elegance to the wines that's special.

As you'd expect, Lamy's 2014 1er Cru En Remilly is stunning. Burghound captures the wine well when he highlights the wine's serious concentration and its "terrific energy and minerality". This a painstakingly and grandly sculpted white Burgundy.

Hubert Lamy is one of the standard-bearers for St. Aubin. For many people today, Lamy is one of the most exciting producers of white Burgundy around. I'm happy to be able to offer this stunning example of Lamy's work in magnums. This is a wine that you'll want to follow for years.

Burghound: "While there is a trace of matchstick present it's not enough to completely mask the citrus and high-toned floral scents. There is terrific energy and minerality present on the impressively concentrated and generously proportioned middle weight flavors that possess a succulent yet markedly dry finish that stops just short of overt austerity. This should be approachable young yet reward up to a decade of cellar time."
