Bullet-Proof Meursault: Lowest Price
2011 Fichet Meursault Le Tesson
"Do not miss the Tessons as Fichet just seems to never miss with it." -Burghound
If I had to highlight a producer of White Burgundy that deserves much more attention, Fichet would be the first one to come to mind.
If I had to select one bottle to check out, it would be the Meursault Le Tesson. There's no denying Fichet's Puligny 1er Cru Referts, but for me Le Tesson is the bottle. I say this because Tesson offers such a beautiful representation of Meursault. Along with Roulot's Tesson, Fichet's makes it obvious that this is a very special terroir. It's only a village wine, but in reality it can embarrass many 1er Crus.
Meursault from Le Tesson |
I can't remember a vintage of Fichet's Tesson that didn't leave me deeply impressed. Regardless of the year, it's always incredibly complex with an undeniable grandeur to its saturating presence. There's the classic Meursault notes of hazelnuts along with stone fruits and vibrant citrus. It always has a penetrating intensity along with a transparency and energy.
The 2011 is a great vintage to check out this bottling. Although they are without a doubt built to last for the mid-term at least, the 2011's are already showing marvelous complexity. We've been tasting the 2011s for a while now. When they landed, we were quickly enamored with them. There's a generosity paired with finesse and structure. It's a great combination. The 2011s are starting to disappear from the market. We're really happy to have the opportunity to offer a wine of this caliber before it disappears.
The 2011 Tesson really struts just how impressive this bottling can be. Burghound focuses on the "seductive mouth feel to the citrus-infused and wonderfully persistent finish." There's such a beautifully finessed core and a clear expression of minerality and fruits. In short, it gets dangerously close to hitting the essence of Meursault.
I hope I've made clear just how highly I think of Fichet's Le Tesson. I'm very happy to be able to offer this, especially at such sharp pricing.
