"Silky, dense and concentrated" - 2016 Lambrays Clos des Lambrays

Posted by Ian McFadden

2016 is an epic vintage for Clos des Lambrays.

It's clear that Clos des Lambrays is at the top of their game, and seeing Lambrays hitting on all eight cylinders is really exciting.

Anyone who has been lucky enough to have old bottles of Clos des Lambrays knows how impressive the wines can be. Their 1949 is the most famous example.

In the monograph he penned on the Clos des Lambrays site, French wine writer Charles Quintesson described it as "iron hands in velvet gloves." The site blends the muscle that you'd find in one of Gevrey's Grand Crus with the finesse and suave tannins that you find in one of Chambolle's. Lambrays dazzles, but there's also a comforting element to it that I love.

The 2016 Clos des Lambrays is a dream brew. It possesses a gripping concentration, an exacting fineness and explosive aromatics. You can expect plenty of the density, and the harmony, that allows Lambrays to be a distance runner.

In 2016, we saw much less wine than we have in the past. We're sneaking this offer in on a Friday afternoon, because we're expecting our modest allocation to sell out. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
