Simply Monumental
2012 Bouchard Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

"A classic Bèze that is built to age." -Burghound

Year-after-year, Bouchard's Clos de Bèze gets ranked right up there with the best wines produced in this highly regarded Grand Cru, including the mighty Rousseau. Yet, it's available at a fraction of the cost.

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is one of the grandest and most famous Grand Crus. At its best, it is simply monumental. Few wines combine the rare combination of palate saturating, soil inflected intensity with walk-on-tip-toe elegance. It can be a mindbending, life-affirming wine.

Bouchard's 2012s are simply beautiful wines. And when you hit the top of their red range with the Bèze, the glory of this noble site is on full display. There's a beautiful site specificity, harmony and deep structure. It delivers authority and grace with a pulsating minerality.

Bouchard's Clos de Bèze is legendary for the way it ages. The 2012 promises to add to the legend - Burghound estimates 27 years+. The concentration, the packed mid-palate and the overall balance leave little doubt that it will evolve really, really well in the cellar.

Our parcel is, at best, modest. It's very likely that it will sell out. We couldn't help but offer Bouchard's '12 Bèze: it's just too impressive of a wine and offers too much relative value not to share.

Burghound: "This is also quite reduced in fact so much so that nothing is discernable, not even the spice. This is bigger, richer and more powerful than the Chapelle with more mid-palate concentration as well with a lovely mineral streak that runs the length of the wine before culminating in an explosive finish that really does a slow build. I very much like the overall depth yet it's all but certain that more will develop as this possesses ample amounts of underlying material. A classic Bèze that is built to age."
