"Exceptional" - Dauvissat Steal
2011 Dauvissat Chablis
1er Cru La Forest

"It is never any surprise that Vincent Dauvissat has fashioned some of the most brilliant wines of the vintage, but this is once again the case with these stunning 2011s."
-John Gilman, View from the Cellar

This sums it up well... To put it briefly, Dauvissat just killed it in 2011.

Dauvissat's Forest has been a pillar at Crush since we've opened, and we've only grown more fond of it over the years. The story here is, above all, VALUE. There are very few wines, especially from Burgundy, that offer as much cellar potential and as much complexity at this price.

This is one of the most impressive young vintages of Forest that I can remember tasting in some time. If you seek finessed, pure, mineral-laden wines, look no further and go deep.

Dauvissat's 2011 Forest is just stunning. The wine takes the ripeness of the vintage and refines it with a beautiful silken elegance. It shows a heartbreaking tension and polished minerality. The purity is shocking.

This is Forest with an extraordinary amount of aristocratic breeding. Of course, this should come as no surprise. Chablis can share the stage with the best wines in the world, and this status is largely thanks to the efforts of Dauvissat and Raveneau.

It's not like we need another example of Dauvissat's skill, but the 2011 Forest announces his mastery in a profound way. When everything is said and done, Dauvissat is likely to stand out as the producer who best harnessed the 2011.

John Gilman isn't shy with his praise of Dauvissat's line-up in 2011: "The wines are across the board exceptional... absolutely stunning." Burghound just goes ahead and places the '11 Forest in the "outstanding" category.

Dauvissat's Forest along with Raveneau's Butteaux and Montée de Tonnerre are the holy trinity of sought after, long aging Chablis 1er Crus. However, Dauvissat's Forest can be had for somewhere between a half and a third of the cost of the Raveneaus. I should also mention that we recently opened an 85 Dauvissat Forest that was beautifully mineral and fresh.

Dauvissat's 2011 Forest is a great wine and an absolutely silly deal. I can't think of much more to say than "don't miss." Let's just leave it at that.
